“You’ve reached the weekly invitation limit” - A new error message from Linkedin

Linkedin Error Message:

Connections benefit you more when you know them personally, so we have weekly limits to encourage better networks.

For people you don't know, you can follow them to see their posts or send an InMail instead. If you'd still like to send an invitation, please try again next week.

Recently, we began to see the previously message appear across Linkedin. While we don’t have all the facts, here is what we know and what we believe about what this means for Linkedin.

This is a new feature on LinkedIn and is not a warning/suspension/ban.

Instead, this is simply LinkedIn making platform changes to try to reduce issues stemming from high volumes of poorly targeted, spammy outreach (You’ve seen these connections) which is often sent by software programs (that you’re not supposed to use).

The weekly limit is currently unknown. LinkedIn is a blackbox and does not disclose this info, however in practice we’ve seen it occur after anywhere from 100-300 connections are sent.

Our guess is this will become a platform-wide change in the coming weeks to months.

Fortunately, for Lead Cookie customers, this is great news. We are set up and in a great position to navigate these changes and take advantage of them to maximize the result of your Linkedin outreach efforts.

Why weekly connection limits are a good thing for Linkedin

  1. This will reduce the overall volume/noise on Linkedin.
This means there is less indirect competition you need to cut through to reach leads (a busy CEO who used to get 30 spammy connections a day may now only get 10 for example).

  2. This will hurt the individuals doing mass, spammy outreach.
There has been no shortage of people who are spamming out irrelevant messages with bots on Linkedin over the past few years. These are the people this will is meant to stop. Fortunately, this is the opposite of the Lead Cookie approach.

  3. Lead Cookie anticipated and prepared for this. - Over the past 1.5yrs, Lead Cookie has widened its campaign offerings to include hand researched lead lists from our human team. Many clients are now only reaching 500x hand researched leads a month (or less) and seeing great success.

  4. High-quality outreach will now stand out even more
As the quantity of irrelevant spammy messages decreases, your high-quality outreach has a better chance of standing out. By being highly targeted, with highly relevant copy, your connections will now better stand out (increasing your connection and overall engagement rates).

Looking for a high-quality Linkedin Outreach team?

At Lead Cookie, we have prepared for this shift by creating the following changes.

  • The ability to hand-qualify every lead we contact to ensure every connection request counts and that we don’t send to irrelevant people.

  • Highly-targeted campaigns with unique copy to small subsets of individuals.

  • Outreach across Linkedin, Email, & Phone.
